The fun and blamelessness may have its worth, yet it is essential to see how these motion pictures are speaking to the ethical qualities that the youngsters seeing them will in the long run grow up to speak to themselves. Most alarmingly is the portrayal of manliness all through numerous great Disney films, for example, Mulan, The Lion King, and Beauty and the Beast. These motion pictures are introducing manly buildings to little fellows everywhere throughout the world, giving them twisted pictures of being a man, and furthermore how to identify with ladies. What is generally risky about the manner in which Disney films speak to manliness is that the procedure is definitely not a fast one. The methods wherein the media impacts the manner in which we believe is less prompt, and has a substantially less straight forward effect in transit we think.Disney motion pictures specifically make a specific domain of pictures that we grow up with and in the long run become used to. A case of s uch a gathering of pictures is the consistent portrayal of the male body in Disney motion pictures as buff, and etched. Sooner or later these pictures start to shape what little fellows know and what they comprehend about their general surroundings. This isn't a quick impact, however rather a moderate collective impact that is significantly more inconspicuous than we know of.One of the most serious issues with this procedure is that the Disney combination has traversed over about five ages, so nobody thinks to challenge the possibility that an enlivened Disney film is an extraordinary method to engage youngsters while at the same time imparting to them a bit of conventional culture. One of the most dangerous manners by which exemplary enlivened Disney films are giving little youngsters bogus and misshaped pictures of manliness, are the manners by which men are appeared in relationship to ladies. Most Disney films rotate around a hetero relationship containing a saint and heroine.Fem inists have considered what these characters inform young ladies regarding themselves, however it is similarly as significant if not progressively essential to comprehend what these motion pictures are educating young men concerning how genuine men communicate with and treat ladies. Regularly the message to young men both unequivocally and verifiably is that men should see ladies as objects of delight or as workers to satisfy them. An ideal case of this deception is in the film Mulan. In Mulan, and whole tune called â€Å"A Girl Worth Fighting For†, clarifies what a man is searching for in a woman. Some of these characteristics incorporate cooking, cleaning, and looking lovely for her significant other. This statement from the tune shows precisely what kind of chauvinist qualities are spoken to in Mulan. â€Å"I need her paler than the moon, with eyes that sparkle like stars, my young lady will wonder about my quality, worship my fight scars. I could mind less what sheâ€℠¢ll wear or resemble, everything relies upon what she cooks like† Another exceptionally dangerous build that Disney motion pictures present to little fellows is the portrayal of the male body.Disney motion pictures commend one specific body type over all others. Etched abs, a barrel chest and enormous arms are normal of a male Disney character. Men with some other body type are for the most part seen as untouchables, powerless or docile. One of the most extraordinary models can be found in â€Å"Beauty and the Beast†, where the differentiation between the amazing male champion figure, Gaston and his sidekick, LeFou is verifiable. The tune entitled basically, â€Å"Gaston† is altogether committed to commending Gaston’s masculine physical make-up and strength. In difference to this, LeFou is appeared as short, tubby, and bucktoothed. In â€Å"Mulan†, when Mulan endeavors to join the Japanese armed force by going as a man, she is shown rapidly that manl iness is characterized by quality and physical capacity alone. In the melody, â€Å"I’ll Make a Man Out of You† Mulan is instructed that so as to accomplish genuine masculinity she should conquer carefully physical obstructions and difficulties rather than any enthusiastic ones. Different films, for example, â€Å"Hercules† and â€Å"Tarzan† delineate their fundamental characters as buff, strong men, with practically too human quality and ability. While Tarzan rides tree limbs and swings from vine to vine effortlessly that can be contrasted with an Olympic gold medalist, Hercules lifts monster rocks, and sleighs a three-headed legendary mammoth. In spite of the fact that the part of imagination assumes a job in these motion pictures, the bring home message is that characters like Tarzan and Hercules are men to be appreciated, imitated and admired. Not exclusively do most Disney motion pictures praise their characters bodies yet additionally the degree of b rutality and strength they show. Manliness comparable to viciousness and predominance is clear in most Disney films. Not just is the triumph of a fight celebrated, the reluctance of a character to battle is frequently appeared as sad or feeble. A case of such a case is in the vivified film, Beauty and the Beast. In a scene where Gaston has beaten the monster to the ground he shouts, â€Å"What’s the issue brute? Excessively kind and delicate to retaliate? † This is prime case of how motion pictures, for example, these are instructing young men that brutality is the appropriate response, and that any test to that thought will be thought of as feeble or castrating. The climactic scene in many movies is a fight between two men.A brutal fight to win over a lady or keep up pride and status is the most significant scene in setting up which of these characters is the â€Å"better† man. There are two significant issues with this thought. To begin with, that young men are being instructed that predominance and viciousness is something to make progress toward and regard. Second, that these sorts of practices are essential if not obligatory in picking up the acknowledgment and love of a lady. Never in a Disney energized film will you see the losing character of a fight win the lady in the end.Because a great deal of the most famous vivified Disney motion pictures were made in the mid to late 1900’s a ton of the subjects appeared in them are totally misogynist and have no legitimacy in current society. So essentially, insofar as guardians keeping demonstrating their children Disney motion pictures in which a character needs to accomplish some physical undertaking as opposed to indicating love, or an enthusiastic association, men will keep on having no clue what ladies need. Since we as Americans feel such a profound, adoring association with theDisney films we grew up with, it is just normal that we sit our youngsters down before the TV trying t o impart to them our very own bit childhoods. Anyway as much as Disney has gotten installed in our subliminal as healthy and mysterious, today the world is a better place with various individuals and various thoughts. The destructive impacts of indicating a kid a Disney film, particularly a little youngster can leave a hazardous imprint. From body bending, to broken relationship issues, the potential these motion pictures need to adjust a kid future is unquestionably enough to turn off the Disney station and turn on Lifetime.

Edward Said’s Orientalism for the Study of Development - 275 Words

Significance of Edward Said's Orientalism for the Study of Development (Research Paper Sample) Content: Significance of Edward Saids Orientalism for the Study of DevelopmentName of StudentInstitutional AffiliationInstructorCourseInstitution, StateDate of SubmissionSignificance of Edward Saids Orientalism for the Study of DevelopmentThis work done by Edward Said is arguably one of the best pieces of literature that have ever been done on criticism and postcolonial studies. It contains various ideas that are important in the study of development and global politics. Some of the ideas that Edward puts across on development are presented in this report. Again, the contribution of the work to postcolonialism is highlighted.Fundamental BioEdward Said served as the foremost spokesman for the Palestinian cause in America for many years, having been for in Jerusalem in 1935. He also wrote many books, some of which have been translated into 26 languages. His most famous work, thought to be the most influential, Orientalism (1978, gives an overview of how the Islamic world is view ed in the west. His works seem to have had more than just cultural and literary criticisms (Said, 2004 p. 869). That is because his works were motivated by the passion that he had for advocating the Palestinian cause. He went to school in New England, an undergraduate at Princeton, and graduate studies at Harvard.Significance of Edward Saids Orientalism for the Study of DevelopmentThere are several assumptions that the West makes about Orient as narrated by Said. He is a Palestinian, and as such, he is in a position to identify some assumptions about the Arabs that were made by the West. In this book, Said puts across the claims that the West believed that Arabs were dishonest, anti-Western, and menacing (Abu-Lughod et al. 2001, p. 101). He also shows that the Westerners had crafted these assumptions for selfish gains. Eventually, these assumptions turn out to be true, and they affect the relations that exist between different people, as well as the ideologies and beliefs that the y hold about others.Said suggests that there is a need to ensure that "the Orient" are treated fairly. One of the new ways of treating them that he suggests is allowing authors from the orient to have self-representation instead of relying on representation by other people. As such, in this case, Said fights for the equality of authors regardless of their ethnicity. He claims that most Westerners generalize the Arabs and thus treat all of them in a manner that is rather unfair.Another critical significance of development that Said puts across is that he explores the processes that are involved in the construction of binary opposites, as well as the one individuals overcome the differences and succeed (Andreasson, 2005 p. 981). That is crucial because that is a way of calling for an erasure between the lines and boundaries that people construct and adopt another mode of thinking that is otherwise moderate. There are excellent examples of the binary opposites that Said explores and th e manner in which they are applied. These differences that exist between the people from the West and the Orient have led to the emergence of different classes in the society. Some of such classes include civilized versus uncivilized, democracy versus despotism, developed versus undeveloped, liberated versus repressed, and the educated versus ignorant. It is critical to understand these classes when studying development because they enable one to understand some of the challenges that non-Americans face in their daily lives.Edward Said also helps us in understanding the view that the West have on the Oriental and Oriental culture. He uses his piece of literature to show that the view is rather irrational and that the Oriental are misrepresented and depraved (Bishop, n.d.). He also claims that the opinion of the West on Oriental cultures is promoted in the Western institutions and that it is a way of degrading people who are non-Western in such institutions. He makes this insistence deliberately to show the hegemonic nature of the ideas of the Western people.OrientalismThe most critical contribution that Edward Said makes this piece of work are the ideas that he expresses in his work dubbed Orientalism. Analysts and students find the piece of work to be useful in some subjects. It finds the widest application in established disciplines such as literary studies like comparative literature in English, sociology, history, are studies, anthropology, and comparative religion (Brown and Lockman 2005, p. 193). Despite the significant contribution that Orientalism made to the academic field and development, the thoughts the Said expressed in this piece of art have continued to evolve as time moves. Such ideas were recaptured in other literary works such as Culture and Imperialism (1993), seemingly produced and released 15 years after Said had already released Orientalism (1978). As such, there are several contributions that the book made that warranted its development. The primary idea that makes his work resource is that the story develops with refusal and rejection during the early stages and ends up in an ambivalent acceptance. That was an excellent way that Edward uses to question the worrying trend of misrepresentation of the non-Western in the Western culture and society (Gran and Said 1980, p. 328). He also enables the reader to visualize the differences that exist in a community as a result of the difference of cultures and class of people. He also brings out the plight of the East versus the West, colonizer versus the colonized, Blacks and Whites, and the metropolitan versus colonial societies.Said also challenges and criticizes the ideas that the Euro-American scholars had about Orientalism.' He makes this challenge and criticism in a manner that is rather open and direct. Most of the scholars use Orientalism as a structure of thought that is otherwise entrenched. They also use it to form a pattern of particular generalizations about the East (Owen 2005, p. 492). In this case, he shows that the Euro-American scholars have misused orientalism to earn glory and make Western develop a feeling of superiority complex. That is one of the issues that Said aimed at addressing as he wrote the book. He had noticed that the growth and political development of non-Western were significantly hindered by the fact that they were looked down up by the Westerners. However, it is worth noting that the term 'Orientalism was not invented by Said. It was a common term used by specialists in the Middle East. Such scholars included Arabs, as well as scholars in the Indian and East Asian continent. As such, it was associated with criticism and challenging of evils in the society (Owen 2005, p. 492). However, Said notes that the term was not applied appropriately in most cases as the scholars failed to address the issues that faced the less fortunate in the society. As such, he uses his book to condemn the neglect of academicians and the el ite in the society. He implies that they should be in the forefront in the fight for equality in the society. They should also take the initiative of questioning social injustices in the society even before other people notice them.Said also assigns pretty accurate stereotypes to oriental cultures as well as individuals considered oriental. He claims that they are clannish and despotic. Their despotic nature is manifested when they ascend to power. However, they seem obsequious and sly when they hold positions that are otherwise subservient (Owen 2005, p. 497). In this case, Said identifies the nature of stereotypes and orientals as individuals who are otherwise impossible to trust. He identifies them as individuals incapable of instigating change and development in the society. That is because they have abstractions that are sophisticated. However, they lack concrete and detail-oriented analysis of issues that matter to the development of the community. They are not organized and l ack rigorous reasoning and decision-making capabilities.Said identifies the existence of the orientalist mentality as one of the critical contributions of lack of development in the society. He also claims that they advocate division and injustice. He argues that the men are sexually incontinent, and the women follow them without reasoning. He sums up the description of an orientalist as an individual believes that the East and the West should never interact and cooperate on any matter. As such, Said brings out the idea that development is significantly hindered by leaders who have orientalist mentalities and ways of approaching issues. In one of the section of his book, Said questions why Orientals who are mystical, sly, despotic, and devious do not exist. As such, he concludes that the idea of Orientalism could be some myth that was initiated by the Europeans during the 18th Century (Said, 2004 p. 870). As such, Said uses his book to identify it as a discourse and makes attempts to dismantle it. In this case, Said brings out the idea that Orientalism is one of the most common hurdles to the achievement of social integration and development. He proposes that it should be dismantled.Political DominanceOne of the themes that Said develops in his book is political dominance. He argues that the Orientalism was promoted by the fact that the Europeans had political dominance in Asia and Middle East. It was because of such exposure that Said was capable of writing and publishing this book about it (Said, 2004 p. 870). He argues that political dominance is one of the tactics that super powers use to demean the efforts of development for the other countries. He also cites political dominance a...

Acanthostega - Facts and Figures

Name: Acanthostega (Greek for spiky roof); pronounced ah-CAN-tho-STAY-gah Habitat: Rivers and swamps of the northern latitudes Historical Period: Late Devonian (360 million years ago) Size and Weight: About two feet long and 5-10 pounds Diet: Probably fish Distinguishing Characteristics: Stubby legs; long tail; eight digits on front flippers About Acanthostega One of the best-known of all the Devonian tetrapods--the first, lobe-finned fish that climbed up out of the water and onto dry land--Acanthostega nevertheless seems to have represented a dead end in the evolution of early vertebrates, the giveaway being that this creature had eight primitive digits on each of its stubby front flippers, compared to the modern standard of five. Also, despite its classification as an early tetrapod, its possible to oversell the extent to which Acanthostega was a land animal. To judge by certain anatomical features--such as its fish-like teeth and the lateral line sensory apparatus running along the length of its slender body--this tetrapod probably spent most of its time in shallow water, using its rudimentary legs only to crawl from puddle to puddle. Theres another, alternate, explanation for Acanthostegas anatomy: perhaps this tetrapod didnt walk, or crawl, at all, but rather used its eight-digit forelimbs to navigate weed-choked swamps (during the Devonian periods, land plants began, for the first time, to shed leaves and other detritus into nearby pools of water) in pursuit of prey. In this case, the forelimbs of Acanthostega would be a classic example of pre-adaptation: they didnt evolve specifically for the purpose of walking on land, but came in handy (if youll excuse the pun) when later tetrapods, descended from Acanthostega, finally made that evolutionary leap. (This scenario would also account for Acanthostegas internal gills, as well as its weak ribs, which made it unable to poke its chest fully out of the water.)

Child Abuse And Child Molestation - 1967 Words

Child abuse and child molestation are two very thoroughly discussed topics, especially in today s society. Prevention of any kind is needed greatly, and needed as soon as possible. There are many and many prevention possibilities that could be done, the worst part about all of this is people are more selfish and don’t stand up for anything they intend to stand up for. Penalties that are given in a situation like this one should be, since the parents may think they have all the right in the world to do as they please then, they should get the same done to them. As of molestation, the parents or guardians should be sent straight to the death penalty, and should have to pay for what they have done. Someone in the arguing standpoint on this issue could completely disagree with everything that is said up above. There could be a parent or guardian that thinks the child ruined their life or the way this person was raised could affect this issue, so they are going to make the child pa y for what they have done, when they could have prevented the issue that they started earlier on. The parent or guardian of the child also could have had thought that the child is a threat and will continue to be a threat, so they abuse them in ways as they please. A lot of people or adults know that this is wrong, but in their heads it s all ok. When creating his short stories/novels, John Steinbeck focused on what it meant to be human. He included life experiences and really fed off of that in many of his writings. The loss of home became one loss, and the golden time in the West was one dream† (Steinbeck 131). This was the turning point in history. At the time families were struggling to find jobs and often times failed to make ends meet. Fahrenheit 451 The Hope of the Phoenix Essay Example For Students

Fahrenheit 451: The Hope of the Phoenix Essay The word phoenix had symbolize immortality, but for the people in Fahrenheit451, their only hope was that the phoenix would be burn out, and be reborn again. The myth of the phoenix gave optimism to the life of Montag, to the books, andto the world of Fahrenheit 451. The world was now dying, and nobody seemed tocare, because the government had brainwashed the people. It was a situation, where not only the brave, but the ones who can think for themselves, who canhelp break the governments control. The life Montag had been a bumpy road. He thought he had a good life, because he enjoyed his job, and was happy. Soon Montag discovered that he wasnot happy at all, and that his life was nothing. His wife Mildred did not lovehim at all, and his only friend (that he could remember) Clarisse died in a carcrash. All of sudden, he was not happy, but he did not know why.He thoughtmaybe because his wife had pulled the fire alarm on him, but really it was hedid not love her at all. Its strange, I dont miss her at all(155) Montaghad uncertainly about his marriage, because marriage was suppose to be bondedwith love, but with his marriage love was extinct and nowhere to be seen. Hislife had died, when his wife Mildred pulled the alarm and had told the firementhat Montag had books. To Montag, the books was like a sweet piece of candy. He did not know why he liked them, but he always wanted more. But when CaptainBeatty forced Montag to burn his own house, Montags soul had died, but thenresurrected. His life which was suppose to be happy was burning right in frontof his eyes. How ironic, that Montag was a fireman himself but like the phoenix,Montag rose from his own ashes. Montag was now reborn, because he knew his lifewas wrong, and that the world was wrong. He did not know why it was wrong, buthe knew that he had to do something about it. He started that by burningCaptain Beatty into a charred wax doll(119). Montag now had the feeling ofhope, not much since he believed he could not do anything. But Montag had nowbroken the control of the government and was using the books as his aid. How ironic, in the real world, people were always talking about how peoplewasted paper, which mean wasting trees, but in the world of Fahrenheit 451,every tree that had been cut down, and was use for books was now being burnedaway. To the people of Fahrenheit 451 books show the pores the face oflife,(83). The people were scared and uncertain about books, so societydecided to hire firemen to burn the books. Although most people were scared ofbooks, the books acted like their own phoenix by giving people some hope. People like Montag, and Faber. If it wasnt for the law of prohibiting books,Montag might have never seen the light, and if wasnt for the old woman burningherself with books, Montag might have seen what the books actually meant topeople, therefore the books themselves have been reborn. Ironic, that bookswere made to be read, but even without reading, Montag was able to see what theymeant to society. The world of Fahrenheit 451 WAS quite different from the world now. Instead of people fighting for equal rights, people were already equal. Equalin everything from physical abilities to mental abilities. No problem right? But one constant problem was everyone were always trying to commit suicide. .u7ee37432f3f926748dcf602eaa9d12b2 , .u7ee37432f3f926748dcf602eaa9d12b2 .postImageUrl , .u7ee37432f3f926748dcf602eaa9d12b2 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u7ee37432f3f926748dcf602eaa9d12b2 , .u7ee37432f3f926748dcf602eaa9d12b2:hover , .u7ee37432f3f926748dcf602eaa9d12b2:visited , .u7ee37432f3f926748dcf602eaa9d12b2:active { border:0!important; } .u7ee37432f3f926748dcf602eaa9d12b2 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u7ee37432f3f926748dcf602eaa9d12b2 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u7ee37432f3f926748dcf602eaa9d12b2:active , .u7ee37432f3f926748dcf602eaa9d12b2:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u7ee37432f3f926748dcf602eaa9d12b2 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u7ee37432f3f926748dcf602eaa9d12b2 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u7ee37432f3f926748dcf602eaa9d12b2 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u7ee37432f3f926748dcf602eaa9d12b2 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u7ee37432f3f926748dcf602eaa9d12b2:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u7ee37432f3f926748dcf602eaa9d12b2 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u7ee37432f3f926748dcf602eaa9d12b2 .u7ee37432f3f926748dcf602eaa9d12b2-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u7ee37432f3f926748dcf602eaa9d12b2:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Same Sex Marriages EssayThey tried this, because living in the world of Fahrenheit 451 was like hell, because nobody was allowed to think, express their ideas, or to enjoy life. Environmental Systems and Climate Change-Free-Samples for Students

Question: Discuss about the Environmental systems and climate change. Answer: Literature Review According to (Ogilvie, Griffin, Gezon, Inouye, Underwood, Inouye Irwin, 2017), bumble bees are negatively affected by climatic changes in North America due to poor availability of resources. Therefore, bumble bees are not able to fulfil their hunger due to lack of resources. This leads to shortage of food which in turn declines the population of bumble bees. According to the research, due to change in climatic conditions flowers bloom early this leads to mismatch in the timings and also creates problem from them to reproduce. Climatic changes cause loss of habitat as they are not able to migrate to cooler areas. Apart from that bumble bees lay eggs in spring. Early winters would be a trouble for bumble bees in the process of laying eggs. So, whenever there is a change is climatic condition they migrate to different region. Still there is no surety that climatic conditions would be good in that area or not. It is a problematic situation as they will go through phenology mismatch (Mar shall, et. al, 2018). It is not only climatic conditions that affect the life of bumble bees, delay in the growing season of flowers affect the supply of pollen and nectar. Thus it affects the nesting activities of bumble bees. In the views of (Heinrich, 2014), the other threat in life of bumble bees is the rising level of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere which has caused adverse effect among their population. It was researched that there exist a relationship between the pollen and carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. The abundance of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere affects the health of bumble bee but bumble bees adapt to these changes. As various plans are suggested to manage locally by planting more trees that make a difference for bumble bees to adapt to changes (Fightbugs, 2017). The loss of bumble bees species has a consequence on the ecosystem as well as people like crops are pollinated by wild bees during change in the climatic conditions. According to (Mola Williams, 2018), not only climatic conditions but the use of pesticides these days has impacted the health status of bees. Hence, it can be concluded that bees are dying due to various factors one is climatic condition and other is due to the impact of human practices (Pbs, 2018). Thus to improve these conditions more and more flowers are planted so that bees have better chances to receive the nutrition. Whenever temperature rises, bees are often killed. Especially in North America bumble bees have disappeared. There are various steps taken to remove their hunger by providing them proper pollinator habitat. It was studied that bumble bees are explored to low level of activities that indicates there is low proportion of pollen collected by bees. It results in migration of bumble bees from one place to other (Bumblebeeconservation, 2018). There are various issues faced by bumble bees like many wasps and flies, lay eggs inside the nests of bumble bees. Spiders often hide them in the flowers; whenever bees come to feed themselves spiders attack them by directly injecting. According to the research of (Pardee, Inouye Irwin, 2018), the life of bumble bees begin in springs when the temperature is hot and they look for frequent nesting sites to get nutrition. In North America there were 50 species of bumble bees but now they have become extinct due to various factors. There are various biodiversity challenges which have affected the life of bumble bees like issues with land management. For better understanding the issues species distribution methodology is used which helps in improving the life span of bumble bees. In the views of (Jacobson, Tucker, Mathiasson Rehan, 2018), other than climatic conditions bees suffer from excessive use of chemicals. Use of chemical affects the food production of bee and affects their health. Bees are also affected due to shortage of food as well as higher costs. Due to climatic changes bees are not able to pollinate on time which results in improper supply of nectar. Rising of temperatures leads to migration of bubble bees from North America to different region nearby (Science, 2018). To resolve these issue started are developed in a way that bumble bees adapt to these changes and live a healthy life. Bumble bees need human invention to help them to get settle in cooler environment. They mainly suffer from loss of habitat thus it was suggested that different gardens are created to provide extra habitat for bees. People are encouraged to plant more flowers so that bees have better resources to live and pollinate. (Xerces, 2018) (Pnas, 2018) It can be concluded that population of bumbles bees are becoming endangered due to various reasons like climatic conditions, land management, ratio of carbon dioxide, excessive use of chemicals and some human practises. Thus to control the migration of bumble bees from North America certain factors are taken into consideration. Analyse the methods Charlotte Bronte uses to make the reader empathise with Jane Eyre Essays

Analyse the methods Charlotte Bronte uses to make the reader empathise with Jane Eyre Essays Analyse the methods Charlotte Bronte uses to make the reader empathise with Jane Eyre Paper Analyse the methods Charlotte Bronte uses to make the reader empathise with Jane Eyre Paper this shows shes aware that shes further down in the family and she just shrugs it off. She just seems ignored and unwanted in the family, and she knows that theres nothing she can do so had learnt to live with it. John Reed looks for Jane Eyre, as she is hiding behind the curtain with her book. Jane Eyre and John Reed have totally opposite personalities, as Jane is the innocent type that would just shrug her shoulders and move on. Whereas John Reed is the type who thinks he is higher than everybody else and will bully any poor soul that would take it, for example Jane Eyre. Jane Eyre gives a long description about him; giving the reader an impression that he is fat, and not the nicest looking child, . Large and stout for his age, with a dingy and unwholesome skin; thick lineaments in a spacious visage, heavy limbs and large extremities. Jane Eyre and John Reed do not get on at all as he is horrible to her, as Jane tells us how terrified of him she is, for example every nerve I had feared him, and every morsel of flesh in my bones shrank when he came near. There were moments when I was bewildered by the terror he aspired. The servants knew how John Reed was to poor Jane Eyre, but did not dare say anything to their young master as Jane tells us; the servants did not like to offend their young master by taking my part against him, and Mrs reed was blind and death of the subject: Jane Eyre seems to be being sarcastic about her aunt being blind and death, maybe because she doesnt want to say anything as it shows that she would be sticking up for Jane Eyre, so ignores it and pretends shes not seen anything. For an example of how master John Reed talks to Jane Eyre, and for the look you had in your eyes two minutes since, you rat! this is not a very nice way to talk to someone, and the word rat is usually associated wi th the words disgusting, dirty, vermin, diseases and scavenger and for a child to say that to another is not a very nice thing to do. John Reed is a very demanding child as he was asking her questions like what were you doing behind the curtain? and Jane answers really honestly I was reading she just gave a simple answer as she is scared of him so wont dare be cheeky to him. Show the book he replies, making the reader feel empathy for her as he is being so demanding towards her but she just takes it and hands over the book. You ought to beg, and not to live here with gentlemens children like us, and this shows the reader that Jane is unwanted in the family, especially by John Reed. It shows that shes really low down in the family and you cant get any lower han being a homeless beggar, thats how low John Reed thinks of her. Then he goes on to talk about the house going to be his, this shows that he hasnt a care in the world, even about his mum, as the house will be his when his mother dies. He says all the house belongs to me, or will do in a few years. So suspects his mum will be dead in a few years time. Charlotte Bronte uses several acts of violence to create suspense and mystery in the novel, as Jane Eyre gets a book thrown at her, as it says in the novel; I saw him lift and poise the book and stand in act to hurl it t hit me, and I fell, striking my head against the door and cutting it. The cut bled, the pain was sharp: my terror had passed its climax; other feelings succeeded. Here charlotte Bronte uses short snappy sentences to create a feeling of empathy. Jane Eyre got really angry, so was fighting back with John Reed; wicked and cruel boy she said. I felt him grasp my hair and my shoulder; he had closed with a desperate thing. I really saw in him a tyrant, a murderer. I felt a drop or two of blood trickling down my neck. this shows she has a reason for why she is fighting back, and again makes the reader feel empathy for her. Towards the end of chapter one Charlotte Bronte uses alliteration well for example fury to fly and picture of passion of which is also emotive language. She uses alliteration again in the beginning of chapter two, moments mutiny this is also an emotive and powerful phrase. Hold her arms, miss abbot, shes like a mad cat. This shows aggression towards Jane Eyre, and they are physically and emotionally suppressing her. When they talk about the word cat it again gives an impression to the reader that she is some sort of uncivilised wild animal and should be locked up. The reader may also think of a cat being fiery. Bessie (the servant) says if you dont sit still, you must be tied down they are treating her like a prisoner, yet she is only ten years of age. As incredulous of my sanity here Jane Eyre seems to have overstated the problem, making it sound worse than it actually is. Abbot described Jane Eyre as an underhand little thing. This isnt a very nice way to talk to a ten year old, and makes her sound evil. She also describes her as a thing. A thing may mean a human or an animal, as she has been described as an animal a few times in the novel, for example when Abbot calls her a mad cat and John Reed called her a rat. All these animal phrases give a negative affect to the novel. It is also a really strong use of emotive language, along with; painful and crushing, which is emotional and very negative, passionate and rude, and strike her dead these are good examples of how well Charlotte Bronte has used emotive language. Miss Abbot was saying about Jane Eyre, god will punish her: he might strike her dead in the midst of her tantrums. Jane Eyre is only a child, and thats something you dont say to a child, it may be suggesting she going to hell. Jane Eyre got locked in the red-room; this is a room where Mr. Reed had died in, so wasnt a very nice room for a child to be in, and was only visited occasionally, once a week by the housemaid to wipe the mirrors and the furniture a weeks quiet dust and Mrs Reed came in at far intervals to review the contents of a certain secret drawer in the wardrobe. The chairs were of dark polished old mahogany this shows the reader that the family must be wealthy, as mahogany is a very rare wood. The idea of mahogany adds to the whole idea of the red-room. Charlotte Bronte used the words red-room very well as its a good selective choice of wording, as its alliteration and its one that the reader will remember. The colour choice reflects on her life stage as she is just at the start of adolescence, where her periods will start and the colour also may be associated with anger and passion. It also tells us that the furniture is dark. It was silent as she was describing the room, it is like the room has almost taken her voice away, and gives a negative atmosphere. Being put in the red-room makes the reader feel sorry for Jane Eyre as she is only a child and is being treated unfairly. Describing the room again; also white and like a pale throne gives a deathly feel to the room, and is a ghostly colour giving the reader an impression that its used to create a negative feel to the novel. It sounds like Jane Eyre is starting to get hot and angry, and maybe a bit rebellious as she said my blood was still warm her mind also seems to becoming disturbed as she uses words like tyrannies, proud indifference and turned up in my disturbed mind Again these are all negative words, and again create empathy towards Jane Eyre. We know that Jane Eyre is understandably not happy about being in the red-room, so is slightly stubborn, being a typical child when they havent got what they want, she says she is going to let herself die; never eating or drinking more and letting myself die In the next paragraph of the novel the reader will feel empathy again towards Ja ne Eyre as she says I was termed naughty and tiresome, sullen and sneaking from. As we know she is not really naughty and is very innocent. Charlotte Bronte uses a persuasive technique by using a group of three words together, these were humiliation, self-doubt, forlorn depression. again this creates a really strong feeling of empathy by the reader. She then goes on to say I wiped my tears making the reader feel sorry for her as she isnt in the wrong and hasnt done anything wrong so shouldnt be punished. Jane Eyre seems slightly disturbed and obsessed with death as she is talking about dead men. Then Jane Eyre believes something is near, a light gleamed on the wall. Was it, I asked myself, a ray from the moon penetrating some aperture in the blind? No; moonlight was still, and this stirred; it was almost as if her mind was playing tricks on her and it was slightly superstitious. She may feel that somethings coming to get her, as shes alone and scared. Towards the end of chapter two Jane Eyre says to her Aunt Reed, O Aunt! Have pity! Forgive me! makes the reader feel sorry for her as she is only a ten year old child, begging her aunt to forgive her, its not often that a child of the 21st century would have the need to do that. Overall, I feel Charlotte Bronte has created empathy in the novel as I felt it towards her. The way Charlotte Bronte used a poor girl, with a rich family really worked well, as the rich family looked down upon Jane Eyre, (the poor girl) and thats what people did in the 19th century, and some still do it today, but not as much as then. Charlotte also used excellent use of emotive language, as it created empathy from the reader. The first two chapters of the novel has made me think more about the children with no parents, living with family or friends that dont really want them around! They must feel down and negative all the time.
